Painting My Ski!

posted Jun 21, 2009 8:05 PM by Kristin Philp

I've been wanting to get rid of the stock look of my ski for quite a while now.  I've gotten as far as removing the stock decals and now I'm taking the last step in true personalization and painting it!  The best part of the whole thing is that it is going to be bright - think 80's neon! I have recently become fond of the 'old school' colors (I think the viewing of the Jet Dreams DVD had something to do with it), and now I'm gonna bring them back KTP style :)  I was originally going to have it back last week but the neon paint colors were a little more difficult to get so I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow.  I do, however, have a few pictures of the work in progress.  I'll make sure to post some pics of the finished product!

Boomtown 2009 Recap

posted Apr 24, 2009 2:21 PM by Kristin Philp

My first race of the season at Boomtown Waterpark in Beaumont, TX was great! (Well except for the down pour Saturday afternoon)  It was the first time I got to see many of the racers since last season and it was nice catching up.  However I didn't get a lot of down time to mingle because I ran in 3 classes and slalom so I literally went from one moto to the next all day long.  Even though I was really worn out Sunday and could barely stay on my boat, I still finished well.  I ended up getting 1st in Novice Women's Ski, 2nd in Novice Ski Limited & 3rd in Sport Spec.  I'd say that's a great beginning for the season!

First Engine Malfunction

If you race ski's long enough you will eventually blow something. Well I guess I've officially put in my time.  I was out for my first practice of the year in Dallas with Flyin' Brian.  We had been practicing starts and then I went for a quick run across the lake to give him time to backdown the trailer.  I had just reached the other side and about to turn around when my boat just died.  I immediately thought my boat was filling with water because that had happened to me before.  I turned on the bilge pump and began limping in.  Unfortunately the wind was against me but I finally made it.  Once in, my feet were completely numb from being in the freezing water for so long and Brian had to help me walk to the truck.  We loaded the boat and headed back.  He immediately went to investigate what had happened.  He found a hole the size of a peanut in the top of one of my pistons...no more practicing for me.  I was totally bummed because we were going to ride buoys the next day.

Once home Wade took the engine apart and confirmed the problem.  Luckily only the pistons need to be replace.  I should be up and running by next week.  We assume the problem was bad fuel and/or the fact that I was running on a low tank. From now on I will pay much more attention to the fuel.

Despite the hassle I can't really complain too much because it is amazing that I was able to get this far without any problems.  I have to complement Wade, my step-dad/mechanic, for that.  THANKS Wade!
